Scan Lines Tutorial for Paing Shop Pro (PSP) 7

First open the image you want to add scanlines to. Mine is a picture of my favorite car.

The next step is to create a new image, 1 pixel wide and 2 pixels tall. Using the paint brush with the brush size of 1, paint the top half black and the bottom half white.

Now create a new layer by going to Layers- New Raster Layer . Name this layer "mask". Select the gradient tool and select fill with pattern . Make the pattern source the 1x2 pixel image you just created.

Now you need to make the current layer a mask . Go to Masks- New- From Image, and press ok. Now you picture should look like this.

Now you are done! You can make the opacity scroll bar to the left in the layers pallette to lighten the image. You can also vary the size of the pattern image to make the scanlines thicker, etc.
